When I was a child, I remember ever summer my Dad planted a garden. I loved how seeds sown indoors placed under grow lights, became huge plants weeks later. They sprinkled our backyard with a riot of colors.
At the start of this summer, I had my husband build a couple more garden boxes and hoped by including our girls in the planting, they’d become excited about gardening, about fresh vegetables, about eating vegetables.
I’m a fan of square foot gardening by Mel Bartholomew and find I get loads of vegetables from it which I proudly post on My Instagram Feed.
After hardening off my indoor plants,
I planted them in our garden.
And waited.
I didn’t have to wait long.
Thumper loved going outside, and every time, she headed straight for the pea plants.
And once she retrieved her treasure, she opened it up, scooped out the peas and popped them into her mouth.
And JBird? She loved fresh peas too.
Along with showing me how much :)
Do you garden? What do you love most about it?

I love this! There’s *nothing* like sending your kids out to gather fresh food, is there? Love!

Agreed. I love knowing where the food is coming from (my garden) and is pesticide free!
Plus the excitement when I yell out, “Who wants Peas?” “Who wants Green Beans?”, is priceless.
I LOVE gardening! It’s such a great activity for this stage of life with the kiddos and it’s so satisfying to eat something that grew in your own yard.
Totally!
