This is the first year JBird is begininng to understand about giving presents, and she loves giving them just as much as she loves getting them.
This year on my birthday, she insisted she pick out my gift. What Mom wouldn’t love a Hello Kitty Coloring Book?
Then at school, she learned about Mother’s Day and got all excited about being able to give me another gift. {Turned out to be a book about helping around the house, very cute.}
Last week she asked if Daddy gets a day and what could we do for him? Unfortunately, she’s not in school for Father’s Day gift making. She didn’t like any of my ideas, and I was at a loss as to what to suggest next.
Enter Natasha Wing. She contacted me and asked if I would like to review a copy of her latest book, The Night Before Father’s Day. I immediately said yes.
Within minutes of finishing this fun book, JBird had “a great idea!” She wanted to do a carwash for Daddy just like the people in the book.
So off we went, that moment because there’s no concept of time in a 4-year-old’s life, and washed Daddy’s car.
I loved this book, and I loved the idea of tying in an activity, something I’ve seen a lot of people do. I need to do more of these – ideas?
Since we had so much fun I (and want others to too) I asked Natasha if she would be willing to giveaway a book to one of you. She said yes! Plus she said she’d also toss in her other book The Night Before Summer Camp. Fun!
Enter away! And GOOD LUCK!

Always great to see children reading – my kids don’t read nearly enough (they watch waaay too much TV)

I agree, I’m so glad my kids share my love of reading!
Very cute. I remember the year I was 5 I got my mom a Paint by Numbers Incredible Hulk that you could bake in the microwave and it made his muscles puff up. Hee hee.

I bet she loved it! That’s cute.
I love the photos of Julia reading “The Night Before Father’s Day.” I enjoyed the book too (but I didn’t rush out to wash the car). My copy is now in the hands of my granddaughter in San Francisco. :D

Thanks. I actually caught her 1s after the “I got a great idea” moment.
Ha! Unfortunately, I looked at this while at work and it made me sad that I don’t have the time to do it! I think i just need to make the time!! Thanks for the push, Carolyn.
Yes, make the time!
