Please Be My Friend!

I can’t count the number of times I’ve read a book, or watched a movie, or TV Show and wished I could be friends with one of the characters. What about you?

My wish list of fictional friends is long, but I managed to narrow it down. Below is who I would ask to please be my friend. (And yes I’m not above begging!)

1. Dowager Countess of Grantham, Downton Abbey
If you’ve never seen Downton Abbey, you are missing out. The show is really great, and in about every episode the Dowage Countess comes out with something funny. I don’t know how she does it, but she can really deliver some lines. It’s an art I sometimes wish I had.

Best line of the video below is 39 seconds in.

2. Coach and Tammy Taylor, Friday Night Lights
When my husband first asked me to watch Friday Night Lights with him, I balked. We already had College Football on Saturdays and NFL on the Sundays, I didn’t need anymore football.

But after the first episode I was hooked. The story lines were great and the characters were phenomenal. I especially loved Coach and Tammy. I loved their connection, I loved their marriage.

3. Anne of Green Gables
Growing  up a redhead,

I felt like there were never any characters with red hair. As soon as I read Anne of Green Gables, I was so happy. Then the movie came out, and that cemented the deal for me. I sooo wanted to be Anne’s friend. She was fun, spunky, and had RED HAIR!!  Even today, I’d love to be her friend.

4. Bond. James Bond. {The Daniel Craig Edition}
Yeah I’m happily married, but a girl can dream, right?

5. Liz Lemon, 30 Rock
If I was friends with Liz, I’m sure all I’d do is laugh.

Your turn, tell me five (or less) fictional characters you’d like to be friends with.

OMG Lady Grantham is totally on my list! I didn’t include her in this prompt because I stuck with book characters but for TV shows she’s at the top. I also love Jess from New Girl, Gloria from Modern Family as well as Cam, and Penny from Big Bang. These are just the TV shows. Don’t get me started on movies. Sigh.

Love Anne Shirley and Lady Grantham. :) I would love to be friends Rilla Blithe, too :) How about all of the Pevensie kids (from Narnia)? Except for possibly Susan, because she just goes bad. Dr. Ransom is another from C. S. Lewis, oh and let’s not forget the Hobbits! :) Great post!

Hello, fellow MamaKat’er. I chose this same topic on my blog, but did books (and 1 movie). Like HillJean, I would like to befriend Jess from New Girl. Actually, I’d like to be friends with Schmidt. Seriously. Funny.

and for the record, my son is a redhead so…. GO RED! :)

I love Maggie Smith as Lady Grantham, she’s so funny! #6 is and always will be my favorite moment of hers. I just watched the first episode of season 3, and she has some delightful lines!

Isn’t she? And how she delivers the lines is priceless.
And #6 is great. I love in the 2nd season when she says good bye Sir Richard.

Sir Richard Carlisle: I’m leaving the morning Lady Grantham, I doubt we’ll meet again.
      Lady Grantham: Do you promise?

    -Absolutely agree with Liz Lemon!
-The Kelperts, from the Office. Jim and Pam are snarky enough to be great couple friends for CHW and I.
    - Raylin givens (sp) from Justified…
    - The fisher family from SFU. LOVE them SO much…

Love the Dowager and her “what is a weekend?” Did a blog post about that. I have recently been obsessed with an old series called Monk, had to keep going until the final final show!

I remember that post and it was before I watch Downton so I had to check out the series. I still find it is one of my favourites, also because of her expression – utter bewilderment.
I also love the line I quote above to Allison.
