As soon as I saw the Mini Muffin Tin Advent Calendar in Family Fun (November 2012), I knew I wanted to make it. I still love (and will use) my Elves on the Shelf Advent Calendar I made last year. But with 2 daughters, well I need two Advent Calendars!
It’s pretty simple to make. All you need is,
A Mini Muffin Tin
2 Sheets Magnetic Paper/Canvas*
Fun Paper
Punch (optional, not pictured)
Glue/Modge Podge (not pictured)
* I got my Magnet Paper/Canvas at Joann, and a friend got hers at Walmart (Avery). The Joann one was sturdier.
Steps
1. Invite friends over to have coffee and craft with you. (Optional, but encouraged.)
2. Cut out, or punch magnetic canvas, then cut/punch out paper. Glue together.
I found the 2 1/4 inch punches worked well as the muffin tin holes are approximately 2 inches wide. (I used a wavy circle and scallop circle.)
Also, we debated gluing the paper to the magnetic canvas first, then cutting after dried as some of our cuts were different in size, even though we used the same punch. {Perhaps it was the thickness that made the size difference?}
3. Fill holes with treats or activities. I chose activities, as we’ve entered the season of candy, and I want to limit some of it!
I filled the holes accordingly. That is, the Pizza party is on a Friday. Or movie night is a Saturday.
I love how you can change out the magnet covers and use this for any kind of count down – birthdays, trips, special celebrations.
And how you can store the magnet covers on the back side until the countdown is finished.
And in case you were wondering, this is not a sponsored post for Joann, I just found all my materials there!
Do you use an Advent Calendar?
