The other day I picked Lauren up after her nap. She pressed her warm body against me. As I breathed in deep, I got that sweet mixed smell that only your child can give you. It was a moment I want to remember forever. It is a moment I LOVE.
It got me to thinking about other small moments I love, and should cherish more often.
I love watching my girls play together, especially when they don’t know I’m watching. They seem to be more free in their expressions.
I love when Julia tries to soothe a sad Lauren, and goes as far as to call her Sweetie.
I love hearing my girls sing off-key and jumble the words.
I love rising early before anyone else and having a few quiet moments to me. With a hot coffee cradled in my hands, I mentally set about how I’d like the day to unfold.
I love empty laundry baskets.
I love when my kids say thank-you after a meal and even more when their plates are empty.
I love uncomplicated friendships.
I love being able to call my friends in Canada after a few months, and we pick up just as if we spoke the day before.
I love seeing my tulip buds poking up through the soggy spring soil.
I love starting seeds for my garden, knowing my girls will enjoy anything (almost anything) we grow.
I love eating crunchy peanut butter. Not smooth! I love it even more straight from the jar off a spoon.
I love getting a new haircut and/or pedicure. It’s like hitting the reset button.
I love finding a good book and then snuggling up to it after a long day.
I love tip-toeing into my girls’s bedrooms and giving them one more goodnight kiss while they are fast asleep.
I love seeing the change in my girls and how far we’ve come even though I miss them as babies.
I love watching my husband play with the girls, and even go as far as to be dressed up as a princess.
I love thinking about all these things because they make me smile.
Now you tell me some things you love.

Awww I love this. I totally know what you mean about that baby smell. I absolutely love it. I want to capture it and put it in a bottle that I can keep forever. I too, LOVE sneaking in and kissing my boys goodnight one more time when they are fast asleep. All in all, I couldn’t agree more with your post :)
