On the last Memories Captured link-up {hosted by Galit and Allison} I posted this picture, and received a few comments and emails asking how I put the image in my font, so I thought I’d share what I did.
I’ve just gotten Premiere Elements 10 (PE 10) and have been teaching myself, so if you know a better (easier) way, speak up :) {I’m a bit of a hack}
A thick font is best. If you don’t have one on your computer there are a lot at dafont.com
For this tutorial I’ll use Absender.
Launch PE 10
Open photo(s) you want to fill in the text with.
Open a new blank file: File > New > Blank File OR Ctrl+N
Select the Type Tool and enter your text. When you do this a type layer is created.
Select the Type Layer (by clicking on it), and open up the Transform Tool: Image>Transform>Free Transform OR Ctrl+T
Drag the handles to resize/reshape, and when satisfied click the green check.
Next we have to simply the layer so the type layer changes it from a vector layer to a raster layer.
Layer > Simply Layer
Use the Magic Wand to select the text.
Now go to the photo you want to use and “select all”: Select > All OR Ctrl+A
Next Copy: Edit > Copy OR Ctrl+C
Return to the selected Text (for me the “J”) and paste the selection in: Edit > Paste into Selection (Shift+Ctrl+V)
I moved the image around and placed it where I wanted it to be.
Select the area where another picture will go (if you want to add another). Then repeat steps from using Magic Wand to select area.
End result =
Note: I scaled down my images to fit into the letters. You scale images by going to Image > Resize >Image Size OR Alt+Ctrl+I
I’m thinking of doing something with the word FAMILY. What about you?

Genius. Pure genius! :)

Thanks. Now I’m tooling around with text and all the things I can do with it in PE.
I like the program. It fixes a lot of my photo mistakes :)
