As we move closer and closer to Christmas I can’t help, but think of all the
Good gifts gone bad
And they include gifts I’ve given, and received.
Sure, it’s the thought that counts, but sometimes some of these gifts make me wonder
what the giver was thinking OR what was I thinking.
One year I gave my husband a book I was sure he would enjoy. It sat on our bookshelf and collected dust. Later (much later, too late to return) he let me know he had already read it (and had told me previous to my getting it for him) and didn’t like it. Oops.
Another time, I bought him clothes that I thought he’d look good in. Forget about what he was comfortable in. Needless to say, they remain unworn.
Luckily for my husband, he’s not the only recipient of my bad gifts.
The best worst gift I ever gave went to my Dad. A nice pair of Flannel PJs, toasty and warm EXCEPT he’s allergic to flannel and broke out in hives. Oy.
