DIY Braided Bead Bracelet

Ever since I discovered Honestly…WTF and their awesome bracelets, I’ve been on a bit of a tear.  I’ve made wrap bracelets and now a ton of Braided Bead Bracelets.

I love the look of arm candy.

 Materials

1.5 yards of wax linen cord
small beads (amount depends on size of bracelet)*
larger bead for clasp*
scissors

*Honestly…WTF uses 50-70 size 8/0 seed beads and a two hole button
You can use these and a ton of different combinations.

Directions

Cut the waxed linen into 2 pieces, one 26″ and the other 19″. Fold the longer piece in half and align the shorter piece so that you make a loop on top of the longer folded piece. The result is “two loops”.

Make a knot, ensuring your “clasp” can fit through and snip off the excess piece.

Begin braiding the three strand. After about an inch (or however long you want) thread a bead onto the left strand.

   Wrap the thread around the bead as you braid, then add another bead on the right side. Keep your finger at the base of the braid so the beads don’t shift. Continue braiding with beads until you hit your desired length.

   When you have added as many beads as you want, braid a tail, knot. Attach your clasp and knot again.
