10 Years Ago

Time passes fast. Sometimes too fast.

Ten years ago, I was preparing for my wedding and life with my Husband.

Our wedding was a simple affair, taking place on a Tuesday afternoon at the City Hall Chapel surrounded by Family and friends. It was perfect. I loved how casual it was, how relaxed it turned out.

As I think back to that day and the million of thoughts that went through my head, I remember feeling, amidst the nerves, absolutely sure about what I was doing, marrying my best Friend.

When I envisioned the future, I saw us together, just as in love, raising our children.

Thankfully, I was right.

But what if I wasn’t? What if I woke up one day and life wasn’t what it was “suppose to be”? What if it wasn’t how I’d imagined/dreamed/thought it would be?

What would I do?

In What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty, a BlogHer Book Club selection, this is exactly what happens to the Alice. After she hits her head at the gym, she loses the last 10 years of her life and thinks she is 29, madly in love with her husband, and pregnant with their first child.

The truth is she’s 39, a mother to 3 children, and going through a nasty divorce. She also learns she is not the person she used to be and is seemingly disliked by numerous people.

I enjoyed this fun and quick read. I found myself wanting to get to the end to see how it all turned out. I wasn’t disappointed.

And throughout the book I found myself wondering about life and our dreams and how they can be so different from what we imagined.

Is your life how you thought it to would be?

 I was compensated for this BlogHer Book Club review, but all opinions expressed are my own.

      It is an interesting read. It made me think about the last ten years, what I thought would happen and was I right? Did I see it correctly? You know, I did. A husband, family, fun. :)

    Wow, you look beautiful! You are one of the most effortless and natural brides I’ve seen, I love your simple and elegant dress. And your husband looks so happy to be right at your side. My Mum always says, may you always be as happy as you were that day. I guess that’s why we have photos and memories are so precious, to remember in the nappy changing times why we are all here.

    {And yes, and no. I’m where I need/want to be with a few surprises along the way. That sounds about right, doesn’t it?}
